Item number - Item number is a term commonly used to describe a catchy, upbeat dance song in a Bollywood movie featuring one or two people other than the lead actors. The item number is often highly sexualized with racy imagery and suggestive lyrics; several female artists are dubbed as "item girls," known specifically to appear in item numbers of this variety.
Polarity item - In linguistics a polarity item is an expression which is sensitive to the presence, in the same sentence, of certain other expressions that are "somehow negative." Polarity items divide into those that must co-occur with a "somehow negative" expression ("negative polarity item", NPI) and those that cannot ("positive polarity item", PPI).
Item drop - An item drop—also called a "drop"—is a type of reward received in video games and table-top role playing games for beating an enemy or opponent; specifically a drop is a tangable object in the game world that the enemy possesses and "drops" when it is defeated. In some games the enemy may have and drop multiple items, and the item(s) may have been used by the enemy against you.
Item response theory - Item response theory (IRT) is a body of related psychometric theory that provides a foundation for scaling persons and items based on responses to assessment items. The central feature of IRT models is that they relate item responses to characteristics of individual persons and assessment items.
